I Can’t See the Text
A stand-up installation based on the book by Sergey Sdobnov
It is easy to judge someone else’s experience from the outside. But to truly feel another person’s pain – the fear of losing one’s sight, the desperate desire to be “like everyone else” – is extremely difficult, isn’t it?
This performance immerses sighted audiences in the experience of a visually impaired person.
At seventeen, Sergey begins to lose his eyesight in a strange and sudden way. He encounters every possible difficulty faced by someone with impaired vision – or simply by anyone in need of medical care in our country. This is a story of how he reboots his perception of the world and ultimately finds ways to exist “normally” among the sighted.
