Fathers and Sons
Not Like Us…
Scenes from the novel in two acts
The nihilist Yevgeny Bazarov – a medical student and a self-proclaimed “new man” – arrives at the family estate of his friend Arkady. He rejects all authorities and traditions, determined to build a new world based on science and pragmatism. He dismisses love as nonsense – until he meets Anna Sergeyevna Odintsova. And everything changes…
True classics do not age. This becomes especially clear when one enters the Kirsanov estate and observes the seemingly simple lives of these familiar characters. In Tskhvirava's production, Turgenev’s heroes feel strikingly modern, despite living in the 19th century and wearing worn greatcoats and caps.
Fathers and Sons at SamArt is a story of people from different generations – a story in which love ultimately takes center stage.
